The Kansas City Chiefs are about to go for a third Super Bowl championship in five seasons, which is something that would likely make them a dynasty, or at least give them the foundation for one.
But as training camp winds down, they do have an important issue to deal with.
Chris Jones, their talented defensive lineman and pass rusher, will possibly hold out and sit out some regular-season games in order to receive a lucrative new contract.
Former cornerback Logan Ryan, a two-time Super Bowl champ, appeared on Jim Rome’s show and said that if Jones’ holdout extends into the regular season, he will lose lots of money, but more importantly, it would be a huge blow to the Chiefs’ title hopes.

Jones has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons, and last year, he also got onto the All-Pro First Team while putting up 15.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, and 29 quarterback hits.
As Ryan pointed out, he is the lynchpin of Kansas City’s defense, and if he were to refuse to play for even a portion of the season, it would put a lot of pressure on his teammates to pick up the slack.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes would have to be otherworldly most of the time, but the other problem is that his most productive wide receiver in 2022, JuJu Smith-Schuster, is now a member of the New England Patriots.
Repeating as world champs is harder to do in the NFL than in the three other major pro sports leagues in North America, and it may take an all-hands-on-deck effort for the Chiefs this year.
