When healthy, T.J. Watt has established himself as one of the NFL’s most elite defenders.
He only played 10 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season after suffering a shoulder and knee injury.
On a recent episode of Ben Roethlisberger’s podcast, Watt detailed his feelings on the play that led to his shoulder injury.
“I had Joe Burrow locked up, and like my arm got stuck behind me,” Watt detailed, “and that’s how I tore my pec.”

This conversation was outlined by the NFL’s Kevin Patra, who relayed more of Watt’s comments.
Watt continued discussing this play, saying, “If I just stay on my feet and wrap him up and take him down, like, game’s over, pec is fine.”
He also added, “The amount of times that I’ve drove myself nuts thinking like that.”
Watt’s level of detail and explanation about this play is an indication that he’s not going to make this same mistake again.
The Steelers will be counting on Watt’s presence on their defense this season.
With any luck, he’ll be fully healthy and can register an entire season on the field.
Watt had 22.5 sacks during the 2021 season, which is a single-season NFL record.
If he can get back to that level of production, the Steelers defense should be in a great place.
However, the AFC North has continued to get stronger, making a more difficult path for the Steelers throughout the year.
Can the defense and offense find harmony this year, resulting in yet another winning season?
