It’s one thing to be an NBA villain when you’re a star and a whole different thing to be a villain when you’re a role player.

This is what it’s like for Dillon Brooks.

Needless to say, some villains are embraced and actually cherished by their fans, even if other teams’ fans despise them.

But Brooks might be universally disliked.

That was evident when he took the floor for Canada ahead of their matchup vs. Team USA, as the crowd started booing him right away (via Yahoo Sports).

Notably, stars like LeBron James, DeMar DeRozan, and Draymond Green are just a few of the players who have openly talked about how much they don’t like Brooks.

He’s embraced that persona and claims that he doesn’t care.

It all happened overnight, though, and he went from a respectable role player to a guy the Memphis Grizzlies let go.

He got his big payday to play for the Houston Rockets, but his antics didn’t exactly translate to winning, either.

It’s not that he’s a physical player, a trash-talker, or even someone who tries to get into other players’ heads; the league is full of those types of players, and their colleagues actually respect them.

It’s that he talks a big talk and is rarely able to back that up on the court, and some of the things he’s done are just flat-out dirty.
