The New York Knicks impressed NBA fans all season long but it came to an end Sunday afternoon as they were eliminated from the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers.
Now the team that has so much potential has to make some choices about the future.
Speaking on “Run It Back,” via NBACentral, Shams Charania said that other teams are “monitoring” the Knicks’ situation with Julius Randle.
Randle, who has been with the Knicks since 2019, has a player option in 2025 and is eligible for a four-year, $181.5 million contract extension this summer.
Will the Knicks offer him that much or ponder moving him to another team?

Randle posted 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5 assists during 2023–24, a season that was cut short to just 46 games because of a serious shoulder injury.
Randle wasn’t a part of the team’s impressive run at the end of the season and their time in the playoffs.
That may be a reason why New York contemplates trading him away instead of giving him a monster deal.
The Knicks were able to make it very close to the Eastern Conference Finals even without Randle, which may be proof that they can thrive without him and his hefty paycheck.
The team has other things to consider too, including creating an extension for their new star, OG Anunoby.
They might not have the money to keep everyone on the roster, including Randle.
If the Knicks do decide it’s time to say goodbye to the three-time All-Star, a number of other teams will jump at the chance to sign him, even with his recent injury problems.
