For years, many in the NBA have portrayed Russell Westbrook as a narcissistic, uncoachable kind of player.

But every single one of his former teammates, coaches, and staff members have always had nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for him.

You can add Terance Mann to that list, as he recently shared a heartwarming story of how Westbrook coached him as soon as he got to the Los Angeles Clippers.

In his latest appearance on Paul George’s ‘Podcast P,’ Mann talked about Westbrook getting subbed out and then spending the whole second quarter coaching him and not even sitting down for one second (via Joey Lynn).

Terance Mann on Russell Westbrook:

“Great teammate. I remember our first or second game together he got subbed out, and he stood up and coached me the whole second quarter… Didn’t sit down one time.”

That’s the kind of player and teammate that Russ is.

He’s always willing to go the extra mile for his teammates and to try and help his team.

As a matter of fact, perhaps doing too much is what has made him a controversial player among some people.

Westbrook doesn’t know how to give less than 110% every single day, whether it’s in practice or in games, regardless of the rival, the score, the stage, or whether it’s the backend of a back-to-back.

Russell Westbrook will compete as hard as ever and never take any possession or game for granted; that’s just who he is.

Also, the fact that he agreed to take a massive pay cut to stay with the Clippers speaks volumes of his belief and trust in their project, proving that he’s not the egomaniac and self-centered guy some people have tried to portray him to be.
