The biggest problem for the Pittsburgh Steelers this past NFL season was on the offensive side of the football and it all came down to the inconsistency at the quarterback position, which is without a doubt the most important position in football.

Although the Steelers were flying around on defense and causing havoc with superstar linebacker T.J. Watt leading the way, the offense couldn’t get the job done on a consistent basis, leading to the team parting ways with offensive coordinator Matt Canada during the regular season.

Even though the Steelers were still able to make the NFL playoffs while competing in arguably the toughest division in football in the AFC North, Pittsburgh’s shortcomings on offense proved to be too much to overcome and the team’s primary concern heading into the offseason.

The main question for Mike Tomlin and company moving forward is what to do at the quarterback position, which was a question posed to legendary Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw on The Rich Eisen Show.

“[Kenny] Pickett. I love Pickett,” Bradshaw said. “I know him. I know him well, and he’s fiercely competitive. He’s a tough-minded kid. Things don’t bother him.”

At this point in time, Pickett seems to be on a short leash, especially with the pressure coming from the team’s brass to win now, with longtime owner Art Rooney II sick of the same results each season in Pittsburgh.

That said, the Steelers could decide to go after a veteran quarterback like Kirk Cousins or Russell Wilson to lead the charge instead of leaning on Pickett.
