The Cleveland Guardians have been unable to follow up their 2022 success with another solid campaign in 2023.
Winners of the AL Central last season, the Guardians find themselves six games below the .500 mark.
At 4.5 games back of first, they are still within striking distance.
But this season has been a far cry from what they were able to accomplish in 2022.
Recently, manager Terry Francona provided an update on where things stand as far as his managerial career is concerned.
The two-time World Series champion revealed that there are some health issues he needs to address and have taken care of this offseason and acknowledged that his time in the game may be limited.
Zack Meisel of The Athletic shared a snippet of an interview he recently did with Francona where he revealed this update.
Terry Francona: “I know how I feel about doing the job a certain way. I don’t think I can necessarily do that anymore. That bothers me.”
More from the manager, who isn’t saying explicitly that he’s retiring, but, well, he’s certainly not *not* retiring.https://t.co/HXLkpWC3IP pic.twitter.com/KnXdqHXIH6

Based on Francona’s comments, it appears that his time in baseball may be coming to an end soon.
The veteran manager revealed that after the season is over, he will need to get his shoulder replaced and have two hernias repaired.
Francona talked about how each winter, he does whatever he can to get himself in the best possible shape for the season.
However, he mentioned that he gets “beat up.”
The veteran manager discussed how his ultimate goal now is to go for a healthier lifestyle, and if that is his goal, it doesn’t make much sense to remain the team’s manager for much longer.
Whenever Francona decides his time has come, he will go down as one of the greatest managers in the history of baseball.
