Terry Rozier Says Losing Is In 1 NBA Team’s DNA

Just days ago, the Miami Heat made a sizable splash on the trade market by sending Kyle Lowry to the Charlotte Hornets in return for Terry Rozier.

Rozier is going to give the Heat a boost, especially offensively, as they have had trouble scoring enough points to consistently beat the NBA’s elite teams, especially in the playoffs, over the last few years.

That boost hasn’t come yet, however, as they have lost each of their first four games with Rozier.

The guard said that losing games as a member of Miami is much different than losing with the Hornets, and he even said that losing is “in the DNA” of his former squad, per Wes Goldberg via NBACentral.

Terry Rozier says losing in Miami is different than losing in Charlotte

“It’s the total opposite. In Charlotte, you’re kinda used to losing. It’s in the DNA. Over here, it’s the total opposite. Nobody wants to lose. Nobody is fine with it.”

The Hornets have never really been a winning franchise — they have never been to the Eastern Conference Finals and have won just four playoff series throughout their entire existence dating back to the 1988-89 season.

So far this season, they have a 10-35 record and have seemingly nothing to play for at this point.

The Heat also began play in the 1988-89 campaign, but after several years, Pat Riley arrived as their head coach, and he began to build the franchise’s much-lauded team culture.

It’s a championship culture Riley developed while coaching the Los Angeles Lakers to four NBA championships in the 1980s, and it has only grown stronger during his time as Miami’s team president.

Rozier, who is averaging 21.9 points a game this year, has given them another legitimate scorer, not to mention the ability to play a slightly more wide-open game so that they won’t have to play from behind as often.

The Heat may not return to the NBA Finals, but they should make the race for the Eastern Conference more interesting this spring.
