The Houston Texans entered the 2023 NFL Season with tempered expectations.
The team and fanbase were excited about the prospect of C.J. Stroud, but they were unsure of his impact in Year One.
He has played better than many expected and is slated to win Offensive Rookie of the Year easily.
Andre Johnson recently joined the crew on “The NFL Report” on the NFL Network, talking about the Texans organization and what is different with the team.
“Guys are hanging out, spending time with each other,” Johnson said, commenting on Stroud’s ability to connect with his teammates.
It’s a family. #texans great Andre Johnson reflects on how the organization has changed this season from a divided building to an atmosphere that reminds him of the days players would hangout in the parking lot after games to just be with one another a little bit longer. pic.twitter.com/AZJPGS1YpZ

Johnson compared this to his time with the Texans, feeling like this team has encapsulated much of that energy.
While the Texans might not be poised to win the Super Bowl this season, having positivity in the locker room can go a long way.
This is a similar shift that the Detroit Lions have recently experienced.
With a new coach, new quarterback, and teammates who are fully bought into the team’s vision, the Lions have established themselves as one of the best teams in the NFC.
The hope is that the Texans can experience similar success and camaraderie with a bit more time together.
Stroud has played well on the field, and with Johnson’s report about off-field chemistry, he has seemingly won over his teammates.
Can this turn into long-standing success for the Texans?
For a team longing for an impactful quarterback since the departure of Deshaun Watson, Stroud might be just what the doctor ordered.
