The 2023 season went a lot better for the Houston Texans than many people thought heading into the year.

C.J. Stroud helped take them from a three-win team to a double-digit one, a sign of what a solid quarterback can do for an organization.

Of course, Stroud wasn’t the only offseason addition to help the team gain ground, but he was among their most important pieces.

While the Texans found significant success last year, they knew they had to add more players to their roster heading into 2024.

They added two key veterans in Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon, but are also hoping their draft picks pan out.

One of their draft picks from this year was Cade Stover, a fourth-round tight end who is already turning heads.

DeMeco Ryans recently had a press conference to talk about the upcoming year, and had great things to say about several of the Texans’ skill-position players.

When talking about Stover, Ryans said he “has been one of our most consistent players,” also noting his maturation, and that he doesn’t feel like a rookie.

Stover played tight end at Ohio State but was often overlooked for his flashier teammates.

For instance, he played with Marvin Harrison Jr., who was viewed as the top wide receiver prospect in this draft, perhaps the best receiver prospect in the past decade.

Stover held his own in college and is someone the Texans had their eyes on.

Dalton Schultz is still around, but if Stover keeps impressing his coaches, he could see a lot of playing time moving forward.
