There has been a lot of talk regarding Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers as of late.

Lillard had reportedly given the Blazers an ultimatum, forcing their hand to use their draft capital to land an All-Star caliber player to pair with him and make a championship run right away.

The Blazers didn’t do that and instead took Scoot Henderson and Kris Murray in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Even so, NBA insider Howard Beck (via NBACentral) recently reported that the Blazers did try to move that pick, and they even had some discussions with the Los Angeles Clippers about Paul George, but to no avail.

Notably, it’s hard to believe that the Clippers would’ve said no to that, considering they’ve been in the market for a point guard for quite a while now, especially if they’re also reportedly looking to move on from George.

George is an elite two-way player, yet the Clippers are considering breaking up their star duo due to their never-ending history of injuries.

Henderson looks like a generational PG, and he would’ve been a perfect return for the Clippers organization.

Still, it seems like Lillard’s ultimatum was just a bluff, as he recently met with the Blazers, and they agreed to give their partnership another shot, even though it’s become clear as day that they don’t have what it takes to pursue an NBA championship right now.

As for George, he’ll have no shortage of suitors if he’s indeed available for a trade.
