The St. Louis Cardinals are a franchise rich in tradition and winning.
While this year hasn’t gone according to plan for the team, the history and tradition remain strong.
On Saturday night, the team accomplished a historic feat.
Though they were founded in 1892, they did not become the Cardinals until 1900, and at first were known as the Perfectos.
However, they earned their 10,000th win as a franchise since they were renamed as the Cardinals.
On Twitter, the team celebrated this historic accomplishment and posted a picture of the team high fiving each other after their win over the slumping Colorado Rockies.

The Cardinals have been one of baseball’s most consistent and historic franchises.
11 World Series titles and 19 National League pennants will attest to that.
Several great players have graced the organization.
Stars such as Rogers Hornsby, Dizzy Dean, Stan Musial, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith, Albert Pujols, Scott Rolen, Jim Edmonds, Adam Wainwright, and others have made their mark on the organization.
The Cardinals are second only to the New York Yankees in World Series titles, as New York has 27 titles in total.
But due to their track record of success, the Cardinals are often looked upon favorably as a gold standard of the National League, even in the midst of some of their worst seasons.
It was the team’s 49th win of the year, but it meant a little bit more than just an ordinary win.
It marked a historic accomplishment for one of baseball’s most storied franchises.
