This year’s London Series in now just two days away.

It was last played in 2019, when the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees traveled abroad for a brief two-game set.

This year, it’s a matchup between two historic rivals in the National League, those being the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs.

Both teams have had seasons to forget thus far, but that won’t take away from the excitement of playing in London and expanding the reach of the game.

The Cardinals arrived in London on Thursday ahead of their two-game set with the rival Cubs.

On Twitter, they posted a few pictures of the team getting off the plane.

The Cardinals and Cubs were supposed to play in the London Series back in 2020.

However, the pandemic wiped it off the schedule and the season was shortened to 60 games.

But this year, the London Series makes its triumphant return, and the Cardinals and Cubs will have their first opportunity to play in Europe.

The Cardinals will be starting Adam Wainwright and Jack Flaherty in the two games, while the Cubs will have Justin Steele and Marcus Stroman.

Regardless of the outcome or the standings, this represents an exciting opportunity for the Cardinals to play in a new place and grow their loyal fanbase.

The team just finished a three-game series with the Washington Nationals and have won each of their last two series, so they come into London with a little bit of momentum on their side before matching up with the Cubs.
