The Cardinals Are On A Troubling Trajectory

After another tough loss, this time at the hands of the San Francisco Giants, the St. Louis Cardinals have seemingly lost most of the ground they gained when they went on an 11-3 run in May.

They are now 13 games below the .500 mark and have hit the 40-loss mark before reaching 30 wins.

The Cardinals have not finished under .500 since 2007.

However, they are in danger of having their first losing season since then.

On Twitter, Cardinals analyst Charlie Marlow made a note of the trajectory the Cardinals are currently on, which shows that they are currently on pace to finish the season 65-97.

The #STLCards are on pace to go 65-97.

They just find a way to lose on most nights.

They’re really unrecognizable compared to what we’re used to in STL.

The Cardinals haven’t lost 90 or more games since the 1990 season.

That year, they ultimately parted ways with one of the best managers in franchise history, Whitey Herzog.

This season has been an unpleasant one for Cardinals fans to say the least.

Last season, they won 93 games and secured an NL Central title.

They are a far cry from where they were a season ago.

But it has been over 30 years since they lost at least 90 games in a season.

They finished 70-92 in 1990.

The current trajectory of the club is certainly concerning for the team and its fans.

The Cardinals have talent on their roster, but have yet to put it together this season and are now back at the bottom of the National League.

However, nothing has been done by the front office to try and right the ship.

The clock is ticking for St. Louis to pull themselves out of their rut and return to their winning ways.
