The Cleveland Cavaliers had one of their best regular seasons in years in 2022-23 and were a true force to be reckoned with in the East.
Sadly, they hit a serious rough patch in the playoffs and were taken out quickly by the New York Knicks.
Some people expected changes to the team in the offseason so they could capitalize on their strong core.
But is a major piece of that core about to be traded away?
According to insider Sam Amico, via NBACentral, the Cavaliers are open to potential Darius Garland trades.

The loss of Garland would be monumental for Cleveland.
For the last few years, he has been seen as the future of the team and a pivotal part of its success.
In fact, when Donovan Mitchell was sent to the Cavaliers last summer, he and Garland were hailed as one of the most exciting backcourts in their conference.
However, that backcourt didn’t deliver as expected during the playoffs.
It sounds like maybe the front office is contemplating a major shakeup.
The Cavaliers had multiple problems during the postseason so it would be surprising to see Garland take the blame and be shipped away.
If the Cavaliers pursue this path and move forward on a trade, they would definitely get a lot in return for Garland.
The All-Star averaged 21.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 7.8 assists in 2022-23, shooting 46.2% from the field.
He’s young too, just 23 years old, and his game is improving as he ages.
Multiple teams would leap at the chance to sign him.
Garland could be the centerpiece of a number of teams, just like he was once the centerpiece of the Cavaliers.
It’s far too soon to tell if this goes anywhere.
Maybe the Cavaliers are just testing the waters.
Perhaps cooler heads will prevail and they decide to stick with Garland, alongside Mitchell and the rest of the team.
But if the team really does send Garland away, it’ll shock fans all over the league and especially in Cleveland.
