Fans of the Boston Celtics have been worried all summer long.

Their team made some pretty significant changes in the offseason and they are concerned that it could affect the chances of Boston returning to the Eastern Conference Finals and beyond.

Some aren’t sure that acquiring Kristaps Porzingis was the right move.

The big man has a history of injuries; he’s technically injured right now.

But the team’s front office isn’t too concerned.

According to The Athletic, via NBACentral, a source inside the team “downplayed any concern” over Portzingis’ current physical state.

The seven-foot-three player is not fully prepared to compete right now as he still recovers and gets ready for the new season.

But it seems like he will probably be ready to suit up in just a few months.

That is a good thing because he could end up being a centerpiece of the team’s frontcourt offense and defense.

Porzingis just had one of his best seasons ever.

Playing for the Washington Wizards, he averaged 23.2 points and 8.4 rebounds a game.

Boston is hoping that he can produce like that for them in the new year.

The worries about Porzingis revolve almost entirely around his history of getting hurt.

That is the last thing that the Celtics need, considering their frontcourt players have all had their fair share of injuries over the years.

The team would be in really bad shape if Porzingis goes down again – and Robert Williams and Al Horford do too.

There is no doubt that Boston took a gamble betting on Porzingis.

However, there is a very good chance that it pays off as long as he remains healthy in 2023-24.
