It’s been a long while since the Boston Celtics last won an NBA championship.
They’ve been close lately, but they can’t seem to get over the hump for whatever reason.
Now, they’ve lost one of their key veterans by trading away Marcus Smart, and with Malcolm Brogdon reportedly dealing with a major health issue — up to the point where they had to give up Smart because no team would take him — they have a big vacancy for another point guard.
With that in mind, they were in attendance at John Wall’s private workout in Las Vegas, according to Kelly Iko of The Athletic (via Brian Robb).

Needless to say, Wall is far from the perennial All-Star-caliber player he used to be, but he could still be a serviceable backup and a strong veteran presence in the locker room.
The Celtics have hit some rough patches every season, and they seem to struggle to get back in line, so maybe adding a respected veteran with a strong voice to that locker room could help them straighten the ship.
Then again, their need for a starting-caliber point guard is still there, which is why some rumors state that Jayson Tatum is actively recruiting Damian Lillard to join them in Boston.
Wall hasn’t found much success around the league since leaving the Washington Wizards, either because of multiple injuries or a lack of playing time.
Whether he’ll be able to make another comeback remains to be seen, but the Celtics could use a guy with his skill set right now.
