The Chicago Cubs have quietly become a very interesting team since the start of the second half.
After sitting well below the .500 mark for much of the month of July, the Cubs have climbed out of their hole and are now right in the thick of the race for an NL Central title.
The North Siders have won seven of their last 10 games and are on a two-game winning streak.
On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network took note of the fact that the Cubs have now become a very interesting team to follow, pointing out that they are just one game back of the Milwaukee Brewers in the loss column.

With the Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds both slumping, the Cubs have taken full advantage and now are tied with the Reds for second place in the NL Central.
The team appeared to be set to sell at the trade deadline before they got hot and ultimately got back into the race.
Chicago is 1.5 games back of the Brewers in total.
Despite not being in first place in the division, the Cubs are the only NL Central team with a positive run differential, which currently sits at +75.
Before long, it may be the Cubs who are looking down at the rest of the division.
Chicago last won the NL Central in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
That was also the last time the North Siders reached the postseason.
But they appear to be determined to reverse that trend and get back to the playoffs this October.
