After an incredible run to the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat have come up short once again, with Jimmy Butler and company heading home empty-handed and wondering what can be done to take this team to the next level next season.
Before he was ultimately traded to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal with the Washington Wizards, Bradley Beal was a trade target for the Heat, as they wanted to bring in another scorer that could excel alongside Butler and Bam Adebayo.
With Beal now off the table, the team seems to be focusing on figuring out how to put together a trade package to land superstar guard Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers.
Although Lillard has been adamant about wanting to play out the rest of his career with the Blazers, it seems things are changing in Portland, and he could be moved very soon, with Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report reporting this summer could be when a deal happens.
Miami’s focus is Portland superstar Damian Lillard with the genuine belief this could be the offseason the veteran guard seeks a change of scenery, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport.

Lillard would be an ideal addition to the Heat’s roster, as he gives the team another weapon on the floor that can take over a game offensively and seems to have the same clutch gene as Butler, with the ability to excel in the biggest moments on the basketball floor.
Also, Lillard recently admitted that if he were to be traded, he’d love to go to the Heat or the Brooklyn Nets.
Miami seemed to be his preferred destination of the two due to his close relationship with Adebayo and the team seemingly one piece away from putting the championship puzzle together.
