The New York Jets are taking a big shot at being relevant again, as they swung a blockbuster trade for legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers last week.
They had already assembled a young, talented and intriguing roster on both sides of the football, and as a result, they will have Super Bowl aspirations for this coming season.
New York also brought in Nathaniel Hackett, who was the Packers’ offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2021, as well as wide receiver Allen Lazard, who played with Rodgers and the Packers for the last five seasons.
The team has now acquired another former Packer — offensive lineman Billy Turner, who was with Rodgers and Hackett between 2019 and 2021.
The #Jets are signing veteran OL Billy Turner to a 1-yr deal worth up to $3.15 million, per source.
It’s the latest reunion with Aaron Rodgers and Nathaniel Hackett, who coached Turner in Green Bay and Denver. Turner has 75 career starts.

Turner is going into his 10th NFL season, and he spent last year with the Denver Broncos, where Hackett has an unsuccessful tenure as a head coach.
Giving Rodgers strong protection will have to be a priority, given that he is 39 years of age and not quite as mobile as he used to be.
Rodgers’ production fell in 2022, as he completed only 64.6 percent of his pass attempts and threw for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns, while his 39.3 QBR was by far the lowest of his career.
This came just a year after going for 4,115 passing yards, 37 passing touchdowns, a 68.9 percent completion rate, and a league-high 69.1 QBR while winning his second straight regular season MVP award.
The additions the Jets have made lately will make the race for the AFC title even more interesting once the 2023 NFL season gets started in September.
