After being officially eliminated from the 2023 NFL Playoffs, the New York Jets must reckon with another lost season that was doomed from the start.
As soon as Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles, the team’s Super Bowl hopes were instantly erased.
Although the Jets managed to win a few games, the offense’s woes became readily apparent and fans began to call for general manager Joe Douglas and head coach Robert Saleh’s jobs.
Douglas should have had a better contingency plan in place for the backup quarterback spot, while Saleh continually rolled with Wilson despite his poor performances on the field.
With nothing left to play for, some thought that New York owner Woody Johnson would clean house and look to start fresh for the 2024 NFL season.
However, it seems that Johnson is remaining patient as he will reportedly allow Douglas and Saleh to keep their jobs for now via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
“Sources say there is no indication owner Woody Johnson will make a change, a sign that coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas will be back,” Rapoport tweeted.

Johnson seems to understand the circumstances that led to his team’s demise this season and is allowing his personnel to prove that the roster is enough to compete for a championship.
Rodgers was able to recover enough to where he could conceivably play, though he should remain sidelined given that the team won’t be in the postseason.
With a healthy Rodgers and some talented young stars on the team, perhaps the Jets can finally make noise come next season.
