The New York Knicks have recently been tied with a move for Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George.

Nonetheless, it seems like that’s not the only transaction they could make.

According to a report by Stefan Bondy (via NBACentral), Evan Fournier is looking for a trade.

This is far from a surprise, as he’s repeatedly discussed his diminishing role on the team, and he barely cracked the rotation toward the end of the season.

The chances of getting out of Tom Thibodeau’s dog house once you get in are pretty close to zero, and it’s not like Fournier was doing anything at all to earn his minutes in the first place.

One could argue that they could’ve and should’ve tried more things to try and stop the Miami Heat, but it was hard to trust Fournier anyway.

He’s making $18 million per year and has a team option worth $19 million for the 2024-25 season — which the Knicks obviously have absolutely no intention whatsoever of picking up.

The fact that any team could get his salary off their books by the end of the season makes a potential trade slightly easier.

Then again, not many contending sides would gladly absorb an $18 million salary for a fringe rotation player, so the Knicks might be in for a tough time trying to move on from their French guard/forward.

He might have to agree to a buyout at his next destination to be granted his wish to pursue the next step in his career in the league, which may not last a lot longer.
