The Miami Marlins have been one of the most impressive teams in baseball this year.

Not many people thought they had the personnel to compete in the NL East.

Yet, they are in second place in one of the toughest divisions in MLB.

The Marlins are 45-34 on the year and 6.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves.

It is very impressive what they have done when you factor in some of their key players being on the injured list.

Two players that have missed substantial time are Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Jean Segura.

According to Marlins Communications, Chisholm and Segura have been reinstated from the IL.

The Marlins today made the following roster moves:

– Optioned INF/OF Garrett Hampson & INF Jacob Amaya to AAA Jacksonville
– Reinstated CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. & 3B Jean Segura from the IL
– Claimed RHP Eli Villalobos off waivers from Pittsburgh and assigned him to AA Pensacola

These two players should be able to slot into what has been an impressive Marlins lineup this season.

One of the major reasons for the Marlins’ success has been the bat of Luis Arraez.

He has been the best hitter in the league this year as he continues to chase a monumental record.

Arraez is looking to become the first player since Ted Williams (1941) to bat .400 in a season.

The Marlins landed Arraez in a trade before the season from the Minnesota Twins.

He has stabilized their lineup and consistently gets on base.

The Marlins also have a plethora of young starters that have been dominant.

This roster is surprisingly good and one that should continue to play well throughout the year.

It will be interesting to see what the Marlins do around the trade deadline.

If they are serious about contending for a championship, making a big trade could push them over the top.
