It’s late June already, so we have a pretty clear idea of who the top dogs are in MLB.
The entire AL East division is and will be competitive all year long, the Texas Rangers are emerging as an AL West powerhouse, and the NL West is also shaping up to be filled with competition all year long.
The Atlanta Braves are the clear top team in the NL East, too.
However, while all those battles and situations unfold, a surprising team is slowly, but surely evolving every day.
The Miami Marlins have quietly become a sneaky candidate to be in the postseason picture in the National League, further complicating things for squads such as the San Diego Padres, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and others.
Their recent great play has forced the league’s official site to welcome them to the top ten in their famous Power Rankings.

To be more specific, they are ninth after winning four games in a row and seven of their last ten.
Calling up super prospect Eury Perez (1.80 ERA in 35 innings) to aid the rotation was one of the best things they could do to enhance their chances, but there have been other moves that have helped, too.
For example, Luis Arraez is hitting .388 and leading the team in WAR; and Jorge Soler has 20 home runs.
If they ever get reigning NL Cy Young Sandy Alcantara going (4.97 ERA), they could become really, really dangerous and maybe crack the top five in the Power Rankings.
The Marlins are one of the most underrated teams in baseball with their 41-31 record.
