It’s safe to say that the New York Mets are a team that is built to win in the present and in the future.

The team had a busy offseason, signing Justin Verlander, Brandon Nimmo, Kodai Senga, and Jose Quintana to bolster their roster.

However, the team has been struggling a little bit as of late.

Last season, manager Buck Showalter guided them to a 101-win finish and their first postseason appearance since all the way back in 2016.

But the Mets are currently not playing their best baseball.

In fact, they have lost four games in a row.

This is the first time the Mets have done that under the reigning National League Manager of the Year.

The Mets are obviously now in unfamiliar territory.

They are not doomed by any means.

Their roster is full of stars from top to bottom.

However, they have not played their best baseball over the past few days.

Ultimately, it goes to show just how successful New York has been under Showalter and how he truly helped transform the team from a soft spot in other teams’ schedules to a true powerhouse.

And granted, they are only three games back of first place in the National League East, a spot held by their rivals and five-time defending division champion Atlanta Braves.

Still, Showalter’s Mets have entered some uncharted territory and are in a bit of a tough position right now.

On the flip side, the Braves have won three straight games.

The Philadelphia Phillies are also slowly catching up.
