Just a few years ago, there were concerns about the popularity of the NFL.

Television ratings were down, and some suggested that the fact that some players were taking a stand on social justice issues was driving away fans that didn’t agree with those stances.

But ratings are reportedly higher than they were a few years ago, and pro football is still our nation’s most popular sport — if baseball is our national pastime, football is our national passion.

The proof is in the pudding, or in the Benjamins, and the revenue that the NFL has paid out to its 32 teams is up greatly over the past decade, via Dov Kleiman.

Update: The #Packers announced that they received $374.4 million in national revenue from the NFL.

This means that the NFL has distributed $11.98 billion to its 32 teams for the 2022-23 season.

The NFL’s salary cap, which took effect for the 1994 season, ensured a floor of financial stability for all teams, and just about everyone has prospered.

Another sign of this prosperity is the huge contracts that have been handed out over the past 18 months or so, especially to quarterbacks and wide receivers.

Of course, there are always those who complain that salaries are getting out of hand and that players are overpaid, but when the league’s pie has gotten bigger, everyone’s compensation must go up according to the basic rules of capitalistic principles.

Another factor that has helped the NFL do well lately is the fact that a number of its iconic franchises are Super Bowl contenders.

The San Francisco 49ers are being picked by some to win the NFC, while the Dallas Cowboys, their long-time rivals, have loaded up and could be on a collision course with them to meet for the conference championship.
