The race for the third and final Wild Card spot in the National League has become quite compelling.
After Wednesday night’s slate of games, there were three teams tied for that final spot, all of whom are four games above the .500 mark.
The Chicago Cubs, by virtue of winning percentage, currently hold the spot with a record of 62-58.
However, the Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins both own records of 63-59 and are just a tick behind the Cubs in winning percentage.
Either way, the race has become quite compelling.
On Twitter, MLB writer Bob Nightengale commented on how tight the race is right now and how it may just come down to the wire.

It’s certainly going to be fun to see what happens in the next few weeks.
It’s been a while since either of these three teams have been in postseason contention.
Now, all three of them are fighting for a postseason spot this coming October.
On the surface, the Cubs appear to be the best of the bunch, as they are the only team of the three that has a positive run differential.
But the Reds and Marlins cannot be overlooked as they look to snap their streaks of missing the postseason.
Things are starting to get interesting in the Wild Card races for both leagues, but with three teams in such close proximity in the National League, the NL Wild Card race may just be the race to watch as the season winds down and October approaches,
