The Texas Rangers showed they were willing to go all-in this offseason.
They have not been afraid to spend money in free agency and that was once again the case this year.
Knowing they needed starting pitching the Rangers were aggressive to spend some money.
They went after the top free agent pitcher in two-time CY Young winner Jacob deGrom.
But the problem with deGrom has never been on the field.
He just can not find a way to stay healthy.
DeGrom has thrown 30.1 innings for the Rangers this season.
But after suffering an arm injury, deGrom needed Tommy John surgery.
According to Kennedi Landry, deGrom had successful surgery on Monday morning.

It is great news that the surgery was successful, but there is still a long road ahead for deGrom.
Recovering from Tommy John surgery is one of the toughest things to do.
It seems likely that the starter will miss all of next season.
He has not thrown more than 100 innings in a season since 2019.
He is about to turn 35 years old and baseball fans have been robbed of seeing a healthy deGrom.
Even without deGrom the Rangers are one of the best teams in baseball this year.
They have done a great job of adding talent and their pitching staff has stepped up.
While the deGrom injury is awful for the Rangers at least they have a competitive team.
It will be interesting to see what moves they make at the trade deadline to fill the void left by deGrom.
