After a busy offseason, the Texas Rangers got straight to work in 2023, beginning the new season with a three-game sweep over the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies.

However, this has been a notable trend in recent years when the Rangers and Phillies meet up.

It continued on Sunday as the Rangers improved to 3-0 on the season.

But dating all the way back to the 2014 season, the Rangers have seemingly had the Phillies’ number.

In fact, with Sunday’s win, the Rangers ran their winning streak over the defending National League champs to 12 consecutive games.

On Twitter, MLB posted a graphic to commemorate the Rangers’ recent accomplishment.

Sometimes, a certain team may have another’s number.

Such appears to be the case with the Rangers and Phillies.

While Texas has yet to reach the postseason since 2016 and the Phillies are coming off of an impressive run to the World Series as a third Wild Card team, that doesn’t mean that the Phillies have had it easy against the Rangers.

Ultimately, it’s been quite the opposite since 2014.

And with their 2-1 win over the Phillies last night, the Rangers continued that trend, pulling off a three-game sweep and running their streak up to 12 games.

Simply put, the Rangers have been dialed in against the Phillies.

Texas had an impressive offseason, signing Jacob deGrom, Martin Perez, Nathan Eovaldi, and Andrew Heaney to bolster their starting rotation.

They won just 68 games in 2022 and missed the postseason, but they appear to be prepared to reverse that trend and return to the postseason.
