The Baltimore Ravens are playing much better than many fans and analysts anticipated heading into the season.
They are currently in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 seed in the AFC and can clinch it with a win over the Miami Dolphins this weekend.
After seeing the Ravens’ success thus far, many have wondered how they could get to this place.
Their offense is impressive, but as James Palmer recently pointed out on “The NFL Report,” their defense is on the precipice of history.
“They are leading the NFL in takeaways and sacks and are the number one scoring defense,” Palmer said.
We went into the conversation talking about Lamar and his MVP season … but both @wyche89 and I couldn’t stop talking about the #ravens defense. They’re on pace to do something that hasn’t been done since 1970. Love these discussions on THE NFL REPORT! pic.twitter.com/aakQzCJoKZ

If they keep that pace for the season’s final two games, they will be the first team in the Super Bowl era to finish a season leading all three categories.
This would be an impressive feat for this team, especially since they weren’t expected to be in this position.
When the season began, the Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and Buffalo Bills were all discussed as the best teams in the AFC.
The Ravens have seemingly come out of nowhere, a pleasant surprise for the organization and their fans.
While the Ravens are excited about what they have done to this point, they aren’t done yet.
Lamar Jackson still needs to help lead this team to a deep postseason push, given the current narrative surrounding him.
His doubters still do not believe he has what it takes to lead a team to the Super Bowl, and with a strong defense behind him, he has a chance to rewrite history.
