The Tampa Bay Rays are off to a hot start in 2023.

They have won each of their first 10 games this season and are off to the best start of any team in the Wild Card era, which began in 1994.

The 2003 Kansas City Royals had previously held that mark, having won their first nine games that season.

But the Rays are already ahead of the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays by four games in the American League East.

There are only four teams outside of the AL East that are four games back in their division.

Those teams are the Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals.

The #Rays 10-0 start has left everyone in the AL East already 4 or 5 games out of 1st place.

The Rays are simply on a roll.

The fact that they have put such distance between themselves and the rest of the American League East shows just how dominant they have been.

New York and Toronto are tied for second place in the AL East and both own 6-4 records.

Every other team that is four games out of first place is below .500.

The Cardinals are at the bottom of the NL Central after their 3-7 start, which is a stark contrast to what the Rays have been able to do through their first 10 games of the season.

It also goes to show just how competitive the AL East is in comparison to other divisions.

The Boston Red Sox are fourth in the division and sit at 5-5.

They are already five games back of the Rays for first place in the AL East.
