The Boston Red Sox have been one of Major League Baseball’s most pleasant surprises this season.
After winning just 78 games in 2022 and losing some key pieces in the offseason, the Sox were not expected to do much in 2023.
However, they have quickly proven their doubters wrong and now find themselves right in the mix for the postseason, as they currently occupy the second Wild Card spot in the American League.
They’ve also won eight games in a row.
On Saturday, they picked up yet another win, defeating the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies by a final score of 7-4.
On Twitter, the Red Sox celebrated their eighth straight win with a GIF of reliever John Schreiber nodding in approval.
Another one.

The Red Sox have been an interesting team this season.
The team missed the postseason in 2022 and finished at the bottom of the American League East.
However, the team has defied the odds early on in 2023.
Corey Kluber gave them five innings on Saturday, allowing three runs.
Rafael Devers, Christian Arroyo, Reese McGuire, and Rob Refsnyder provided the offense as the Red Sox pounded the reigning National League champs.
Boston now owns a record of 21-14.
They also have come to within 6.5 games of the first-place Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East.
The Red Sox will try for a sweep on Sunday as they look to bump their win streak up to nine games and move to eight games over the .500 mark.
The team is flying under the radar and looks to be a serious threat in the American League.
