The Cincinnati Reds have been one of the most intriguing teams in all of baseball this season.

On the heels of a 100-loss season in 2022, the Reds have bounced right back into the postseason picture and even have a chance of taking control of the weak NL Central division.

On Sunday, they rallied to beat the Houston Astros by a final score of 9-7 to pull off a sweep of the defending World Series champions.

They have now won eight games in a row, which is their longest win streak since 2012, when they last won the NL Central.

On MLB Network, Mark DeRosa broke down the Reds’ success.

DeRosa talked about all the young stars the Reds have on their roster as of now.

On the offensive side, they have Spencer Steer, Elly De La Cruz, Jonathan India, TJ Friedl, Will Benson, and Matt McClain.

On the pitching side, they have Andrew Abbott, Hunter Greene, and Alexis Diaz, who are all making some noise.

DeRosa also compared these Reds stars to the 2012 team that won 97 games and secured the second-best record in the National League.

That Reds team lost the NLDS to the Giants, but DeRosa made clear that he sees a lot of similarities to that team with the current players on the roster.

The Reds were projected to finish at the bottom of the pack along with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

However, they’ve seemingly switched places with the St. Louis Cardinals and are now in prime position to take sole possession of first place.
