The Houston Rockets did an outstanding job of putting together a young core of promising and talented players.
But, as bright as their future seemed, coach Stephen Silas didn’t exactly help them fulfill that true potential.
Silas has been singled out by fans, analysts, and even some players throughout the season, and there was no sign of improvement from last year’s team to this one.
The Rockets have played iso-heavy basketball, and it doesn’t seem like they’re building any sort of winning culture.
Also, he failed to play to Alperen Sengun’s strengths, not to mention Jabari Smith Jr.’s lack of involvement in the offense.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that they’re not going to bring him back next season, according to a report by Jake Fischer via NBA Central.
Per Fischer, the Rockets’ shortlist of potential replacements includes Scott Brooks and Nick Nurse, both known for dealing with young teams and player development.

It’ll be a while before this Rockets team is ready to compete for a playoff spot.
But they have too many promising assets and players to be stuck in a mediocrity spiral for long, so it only makes sense that the front office is trying to get ahead in their pursuit of a new coach.
Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason, Kevin Porter Jr., Alperen Sengun, and TyTy Washington Jr. are all potential perennial All-Stars, so let’s hope whoever takes over the team is able to bring the best out of them in the future.
