The Minnesota Vikings, contrary to many other teams in the NFL, have an impressive group of running backs.
Led by Dalvin Cook, one of the best in his position, the Vikings boast one of the best running games in the league.
Minnesota knows they could use more power and despite having another standout in Alexander Mattison, they were reportedly ready to go for more.
The team reportedly tried to acquire former Chicago Bears running David Montgomery, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
This would have been a big move for the Vikings, who have one of the best groups of running backs in the league, and adding Montgomery would have elevated their game even more.
VERY INTERESTING: The Minnesota #Vikings were interested in signing former #Chicago #Bears standout running back David Montgomery, per @BradBiggs of the @chicagotribune.
This is despite Minnesota having 4x Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook and standout back Alexander Mattison.

Unfortunately for the Vikings, Montgomery decided to stay in the NFC North after signing an $18 million dollar three-year contract with the Detroit Lions.
Missing out on the former Bears player isn’t that bad for the Vikings, but they know that acquiring him would have helped them a lot.
Right now they are in a complex position regarding the quarterback position.
Kirk Cousins has failed to take them to the promised land and rumors about a potential exit have been circulating.
The Vikings remain competitive in the NFC, but they need more to challenge the powerhouses of the conference.
Montgomery had 5 touchdowns and 801 yards last season on 201 rushing attempts.
Even though he won’t be a part of the Vikings this campaign, they shouldn’t lose sleep over this, especially if Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison stay healthy.
