The NBA offseason got off to a rocky start for the Golden State Warriors, with longtime general manager Bob Myers walking away from the team and veteran forward Draymond Green opting out of the last year of his contract.

Both moves were troubling signs that the Warriors’ era of dominance could be coming to an end, as Myers was the mastermind in putting the rosters together that won four titles, and Green was pivotal in his role in helping the team win those championships.

With NBA free agency only a few days away, the Warriors have learned that another one of their talented players is ready to test the open market, with guard Donte DiVincenzo opting out of his deal to become a free agent.

According to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, DiVincenzo has declined his $4.7 million option in hopes of signing a long-term deal in San Francisco or elsewhere.

DiVincenzo signing elsewhere wouldn’t be as devastating to the team as Green leaving the franchise, but his departure would still be a blow to the team’s backcourt.

Fortunately, the Warriors were able to acquire veteran guard Chris Paul in a deal with the Washington Wizards this offseason, which will definitely help fill the void in the backcourt if DiVincenzo leaves for greener pastures.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Warriors view DiVincenzo as a vital piece to the puzzle in San Francisco and try to re-sign or where else he might land after making a name for himself with the team.
