The White Sox Reveal A Notable April Injury

The Chicago White Sox play in an increasingly competitive division.

The Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals are not quite there yet, but the Cleveland Guardians and the Minnesota Twins are very strong.

Chicago has a chance to return to the postseason if several best-case scenarios occur.

One of those scenarios is for its stars to be healthy for most of the season.

On Wednesday, they received some bad news on that front.

“Prior to today’s game vs. San Francisco, the #WhiteSox placed outfielder Eloy Jiménez on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 4) with a low-grade left hamstring strain and recalled infielder Jake Burger from Class AAA Charlotte,” the team announced via Twitter.

Eloy Jimenez is one of the most reliable power sources on the White Sox.

Unfortunately, injuries have limited him almost every year.

After his debut season in 2019, in which he hit 31 home runs, and 2020, where he played 55 of 60 possible games, injuries robbed him of significant playing time in 2021 and 2022.

In 2021, he tore his left pectoral tendon and only played 55 contests; and last year he was limited to 84 games with a severe hamstring strain.

Muscle injuries and Jimenez are not a promising combination.

However, the team is saying that the strain in his left hamstring is not severe.

That means he can be back after just a couple of weeks if all goes well.

If the White Sox want to make the postseason, they need Jimenez’s production in the middle of their lineup.

Hopefully, he can make a return to full health before the end of the month.
