The Yankees Are Following A Concerning Trend

The New York Yankees are currently in uncharted territory.

Though they remain above the .500 mark, they are in the basement of a very strong American League East division, 13 games out of first place.

The Yankees have been on a very concerning slide as of late and have only won one series since the beginning of July.

That series win was against the slumping Kansas City Royals.

On Sunday, they squandered a 7-3 lead in the ninth inning against the Miami Marlins and dropped their series finale, and in turn, the series.

On Twitter, Bob Nightengale of USA Today pointed out just how bad things have gotten for the Yanks.

The #Yankees are now 1-8-3 in their last 12 series dating back to July 1. Their lone series victory in that span was a 3-game sweep of the #Royals.

In their last 12 series, the Yankees are 1-8-3.

That dates back to July 1, when they began a series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Yankees dropped two of three at Busch Stadium in that series.

And as Nightengale notes, their only series win since then was a three-game sweep of the Royals.

Now, the Yankees are slipping in the standings and are just two games above the .500 mark at a critical point in the season.

In addition, the Yankees are five games back in the Wild Card race, having dropped back-to-back games.

For the first time since 2016, the Yankees find themselves at risk of potentially missing the postseason.

They have reached October every season since then and have been to the ALCS three times.

However, another run to the ALCS this year may be unlikely as the injuries continue to mount and the losses pile up.
