The 2023-24 NBA season was not very kind to the Phoenix Suns as they dealt with a multitude of injuries that kept them from realizing their ceiling as a superteam.
Under owner Mat Ishbia, the Suns went all-in on building out their own version of a “Big 3” by trading for both Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal to pair with Devin Booker.
On paper, the trio is one of the most talented and devastating offensive groups in the league, but that hasn’t resulted in as many wins as the team hoped.
Making things worse is the fact that Phoenix is on the brink of elimination as they stare down a 0-3 series deficit against the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2024 NBA playoffs.
Head coach Frank Vogel has come under fire for the lack of offensive cohesion and leaky defense during the playoffs and it appears that his job could be in jeopardy, via Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
“There is increasing buzz around the league that the Suns will fire Frank Vogel after one season,” Wojnarowski reported.

Letting go of Vogel after just one year seems like a rash decision from ownership, though it’s hard to imagine someone like Ishbia having patience after all the moves he approved.
Vogel was previously let go unceremoniously by the Los Angeles Lakers after he failed to get them to the playoffs in his final season there, and it looks like he is facing a similar fate if he can’t turn things around.
However, the Timberwolves have been the better team through three games and it’s difficult to see the Suns getting over the hump.
