The Chicago Bulls have finally decided to pull the plug on their failed experiment.
Unfortunately for them, it may have been a little too late, as they missed the opportunity to flip some of their good players at last year’s trade deadline.
Despite everybody around the league either hoping or urging them to make some trades, Arturas Karnisovas turned down the few offers that actually came his way last season.
Now, that costly decision may allow DeMar DeRozan to just walk away for free.
According to Bulls insider K.C. Johnson, there’s a growing buzz around the league that DeRozan will leave the team in free agency (Via Evan Sidery).

The Bulls seem to be prioritizing a young movement going on, as they should, but not getting anything out of DeRozan was still poor asset management.
DeRozan should still gauge league-wide interest, particularly from contending teams.
He’s never been a superstar, but he’s one of the best mid-range scorers in the game, and he had already gotten interest from the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers prior to joining the Bulls.
His tenure in Chicago was solid from an individual standpoint, and the fans should have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation from him.
Then again, the time to part ways has officially come, and the Bulls should now look to find a trade suitor for Nikola Vucevic as well.
