The Minnesota Timberwolves are no joke.
Chris Finch’s squad kept it’s foot on the gas throughout the entire regular season, and they’re proving that their success wasn’t a fluke.
Following a sweep of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and the stacked Phoenix Suns, they traveled to Mile High to steal homecourt advantage and take Game 1 from the Denver Nuggets.
Now, ESPN Bet reports that the Timberwolves have become the odds-on favorites to win the Western Conference.
Per the report, they were +4000 to win the conference entering the season, +900 entering the playoffs, and +215 after their win in Game 1.
The Timberwolves have had the best defense in the league throughout the entire campaign, and while no one can stop Nikola Jokic, they can throw different looks at him on both ends of the floor.

Needless to say, they still need to win three more games against them and then go after either the Oklahoma City Thunder or Dallas Mavericks, and none of those teams would be easy to get past.
Still, they’re one of two undefeated teams left in the postseason, and they have a generational talent like Anthony Edwards blossoming as a two-way superstar right before our eyes.
This franchise has never been to the NBA Finals, not even with the great Kevin Garnett leading the way.
But that was the same case with the Nuggets until last season, so who’s to say another ever-struggling franchise can’t get over the hump as well?
