The New York Giants sputtered in the 2023 NFL season as they finished with a 6-11 record and missed the postseason.
It was a disappointing year for the Giants who were coming off a playoff appearance the year before and had the makings of a team on the rise before injuries decimated the offense.
Daniel Jones was lost for the year when he tore his ACL, and the revolving door along the offensive line made it difficult for the team to get any offensive rhythm going.
Even Saquon Barkley couldn’t save New York alone as he was constantly fighting to make even minimal gains on the ground and through the air.
Barkley’s efforts were well-noted and appreciated by the fans, but now he heads into the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
The star running back almost left the Giants in the offseason after he and the organization couldn’t agree on a long-term extension, but he wound up settling for a one-year contract anyway.
Former New York running back Tiki Barber understands what it means to play for the city and strongly believes that Barkley wants to stay via WFAN Sports Radio.
“He was asking me about being a New York running back and it was awesome,” Barber said. “I know that means something to him.”

Barber reveals he and Barkley went to dinner together and the latter peppered him with questions about being a running back for the Giants.
It seems Barkley remains loyal to the only franchise he’s ever played for, though it remains to be seen if he’ll get a chance to stay.
