The San Antonio Spurs have found a generational talent.

Victor Wembanyama has been as good as advertised early in his career, and while that hasn’t translated into wins, his impact has become evident.

He’s dominating the game on both ends of the floor, and he’s had some epic performances in his first season in the league already.

That’s why former NBA player Tim Legler believes he’s the best rookie since Tim Duncan.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, Legler argued that even though the Spurs have only managed to win 13 games this season, he’s still made a huge impact on the defensive end of the floor.

Legler pointed out the fact that Wembanyama has anchored the league’s sixth-best defense when he’s on the floor, and their defensive rating plummets to dead-last in the league when he sits.

Wembanyama is knocking down threes, handing out assists, dominating the offensive glass, and swatting shots into the stands in his first season.

The Spurs need to do a better job of building their offense around him and develop a winning culture again.

But he already looks like the foundational piece they hoped he’d be, posting better numbers than rookie LeBron James in all major stats except for assists despite playing almost ten fewer minutes per game.

This team won’t be bad for long, not with Wembanayama blossoming into one of the most entertaining and impactful players in the game.
