Despite some slippage the past few weeks, the Minnesota Timberwolves remain near the top of the Western Conference standings.

The Timberwolves are tied with the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder for second in the conference and have a chance to reclaim the No. 1 spot from the L.A. Clippers before the annual NBA trade deadline.

Minnesota took a noticeable leap this season thanks to Anthony Edwards’ rise to superstardom and healthy big men in Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Meanwhile, head coach Chris Finch also deserves credit for establishing a clear identity and brand of basketball on both ends of the floor.

Finch and company are considered by most to be legitimate title contenders and the head coach was honored with the opportunity to coach the Western Conference in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.

The event is still over a week away which is probably why Finch admitted it hasn’t hit him yet via Bally Sports.

“It hasn’t really sunk in yet,” Finch said. “It’s an incredible honor.”

Finch added it should be a great experience for him and even joked that the players at the All-Star game won’t listen to him like the players on his roster.

He was kidding in the clip, but it is an awesome experience for Finch who has never coached an All-Star game before.

Although the exhibition game isn’t quite as popular as it was before, fans still tune in to see the game’s best suit up against each other.

Finch will be responsible for manning the controls and it’ll be fun to see what he breaks out during the game.
