The Minnesota Timberwolves made a huge investment when they decided to trade for Rudy Gobert.

Needless to say, the initial returns weren’t exactly positive, as he struggled to establish himself next to Karl-Anthony Towns, and that one-two punch in the frontcourt was an odd fit together.

But the months have gone by and things have looked much better in their second season together.

Gobert is once again one of the frontrunners to take home the Defensive Player of the Year award.

That’s why he’s looking forward to letting everybody in the league know that he cannot be challenged one-on-one because of his quick feet, daring other players to just stop attacking him already (Via Sneaker Reporter on Twitter).

Rudy Gobert letting it be known he has quick feet on the defensive end and that it won’t end well for offenses trying to come at him 1 on 1. Great questions @brittrobson pic.twitter.com/Jkk4KTnyKA

Gobert has always been one of the best rim protectors in the league, but he’s gotten exposed often when taken away into the perimeter, which has been the biggest tweak rival teams make against him whenever they have to face him in the playoffs.

He’s made great strides to improve that this season, making sure to stay in front of his player even if he’s quicker or smaller.

The Timberwolves have been one of the best teams of the early NBA season, especially at home.

And while it could take long before the fans start taking them seriously, it seems like they weren’t that far off on their vision of having two big men doing their damage in the restricted area, so we can put all those trade rumors at ease once and for all.
