MLB has seen some really, really good players in the last 20 years or so.

Mike Trout and Bryce Harper, talent-wise, are arguably the most historically relevant.

They were both in a class of their own as prospects, and developed into generational players capable of achieving big things on a baseball field.

Friday marks an exciting 11-year anniversary from the date in which both players cemented their place on a major league roster.

“OTD in 2012, Mike Trout and Bryce Harper arrived in the bigs for good. They both dazzled on their way to winning AL and NL Rookie of the Year, respectively,” MLB Vault tweeted with a cool video.

It’s important to note and understand the tweet, specifically the part that states they “arrived in the bigs for good”.

Both made their 2012 debuts on April 28.

It was Harper’s MLB debut, but not Trout’s.

Trout was called up on April 28, 2012, but he had an unsuccessful MLB cameo the year before late in the season.

In 2011, Trout hit .220/.281/.390 in 40 games and 135 plate appearances.

He was much, much better in 2012, though, a season in which he not only won the AL Rookie of the Year award, but he also fought with Miguel Cabrera for the AL MVP title.

Since that year, Trout and Harper have accumulated five MVP awards between the two of them, three for the former and two for the latter.

Only Harper knows what it’s like to play in the World Series, though, but he couldn’t win it last year.

Will we ever experience a Los Angeles Angels – Philadelphia Phillies Fall Classic so we can enjoy the two future Hall of Famers competing for the ultimate trophy?

It’s certainly exciting to imagine.
