As the NFL enters the week of the draft, it is always fascinating to see what position will be the trendy position in the first few rounds.

Quarterback is always the hot topic, but what about the positions of wide receiver and offensive tackle?

Renowned draft analyst Todd McShay had his take on how those positions will fair in the early rounds at the end of this week:

He tweeted, “Wide receivers and offensive tackles will dominate the first round of the NFL Draft. But WR depth in Round 2 > OT. So will that lead to some team with needs at both positions…to get their OT in Round 1 and circle back on WR later?”

Wide receivers and offensive tackles will dominate the first round of the NFL draft. But WR depth in Round 2 > OT. So will that lead some team with needs at both positions — Chargers, Giants, Titans and Jets — to get their OT in Round 1 and circle back on WR later? We discuss… https://t.co/rnybqnxOMM

The teams with needs at wide receiver and offensive line are extremely fascinating this year.

As McShay noted, the Chargers, Giants, Titans, and Jets are all in unique places.

The Chargers are looking to contend right away with Jim Harbaugh but have to replace two big-time receivers in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.

Who knows what the Giants are going to do with Daniel Jones’s future in question?

Tennessee is entering a whole new era with Brian Callahan and Will Levis.

The New York Jets are supposed to be contending for a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers under center and would like to get him as many weapons as possible.

The question is how close certain prospects are to each other on each of these teams’ draft boards.

Is a team like the Jets, who added great, veteran offensive tackles in Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses this offseason, along with a big-time receiver in Mike Williams, willing to wait to add more offensive line help in favor of a Rome Odunze or Brock Bowers?

That will be the key, but each team is in a very interesting position, which is what makes the draft so compelling every year.
