After defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl at the conclusion of the 2022 NFL campaign, the Kansas City Chiefs headed into that offseason with many players, namely wide receivers, wanting to cash in on having been showcased in the big game.
During that offseason, the team lost a few key pieces to the offensive puzzle at the position, and that became a problem early on during the 2023 season, as some started to believe the Chiefs had lost the spark that made them so good on offense with superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes leading the way.
Fortunately for Kansas City, the lack of game-changers at wide receiver didn’t matter once the team got to the NFL playoffs, as they beat some of the best teams in the AFC week after week, taking down the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens before capping it off with an overtime win against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl to win back-to-back titles.
The Chiefs got aggressive this offseason in their pursuit to upgrade the position, adding veteran Marquise Brown, re-signing Mecole Hardman and drafting potentially the new fastest player in the NFL, Xavier Worthy.
Although the Chiefs have high hopes for Worthy, especially after he set a record for the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, the rookie is currently on the mend, as he recently admitted that he’s not 100 percent right now, according to Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports.

With Worthy having the potential to be another Tyreek Hill with his blazing speed, the Chiefs will hope he can be ready for the start of the upcoming 2024 NFL season, which gets underway at Kansas City on Sept. 5 when the Chiefs face the Baltimore Ravens at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs will be looking to make history in 2024 as they try to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowl titles.
