Just three years ago, the Atlanta Hawks made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, but after two first-round playoff exits since then, they missed this year’s postseason, and major changes could be coming for them.

Many feel they will end up breaking up their starting backcourt of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, and if Young ends up getting traded, there will be multiple teams looking to land him.

Young seemed non-committal when commenting on what the future could hold for him — he said he wants “to be in Atlanta” but that he also wants to win, per his show via Legion Hoops.

Trae Young on his future:

“Obviously I want to be in Atlanta… but at the same time I want to win. I don’t feel like I have very much time to waste.”

Young is a player who can get very hot on any given night and shoot his team into an unexpected win over a favored team, and he averaged 25.7 points and 10.8 assists a game this season.

However, critics say he is inefficient and is plagued by questionable shot selection and decision-making.

While he shot a solid 37.3 percent from 3-point range this year, he was at just 43.0 percent overall, and his shooting percentages have fluctuated from year to year.

He also averaged 4.4 turnovers a game this season and has a career average of 4.2 giveaways per contest.

In addition, Young is seen as a defensive liability, mostly because he is just 6-foot-1 and 164 pounds.

Still, he could be seen as that one star a number of teams could need to get to the next level, and perhaps a different roster and system could help him improve his shooting efficiency.

If the Hawks make Trae Young available in trade talks this offseason, the Spurs will show interest, per @ShamsCharania on @PatMcAfeeShow.

One team that is rumored to be interested in Young if the Hawks look to trade him is the San Antonio Spurs, who are looking for a co-star to put next to Victor Wembanyama.
