Trae Young’s and Luka Doncic’s NBA careers will be entangled forever.
The trade that sent each one to their respective franchises could go down as one of the most influential in history, but it has also led to countless comparisons between one and the other.
People obviously gave Doncic the nod as one of the best players in the league right away, whereas Doncic’s critics talked about the fact that Young had already led his team to the Eastern Conference Finals.
With that in mind, Young addressed those comparisons on The Draymond Green Podcast (via Bleacher Report), stating that it’s actually not that far off between the two, as they both can hoop and play at a high level and do the same things, although Luka is obviously bigger than him.

Truth be told, it seems like it’s a situation where you couldn’t go wrong either way.
Both are franchise players and figure to be superstars in the league for a very long time.
Both have proven to be more than capable of scoring in bunches from all over the court, and they can both pull the strings of an offense and operate as elite playmakers.
Also, neither of them is exactly a good defender and likely never will be, so there’s also that.
Perhaps Doncic’s ceiling is higher, and both have had some alleged character issues in the past, but it’s definitely not that far off at this point.
It’s not a Magic-Bird kind of thing by any means now, but it might turn out to be a similar case in the future.
